Research funded by the SW CASC that recently was published in PLoS ONE suggests that in southern California, the abundances of breeding bird species in arid areas may be negatively affected by increases in temperature and aridity, whereas species in nearby areas that are cooler and less arid may be positively affected by the same changes in climate.
