Researchers Help Arizona Tribes Prepare for Drought, Climate Change

April 24, 2014

Several researchers at the University of Arizona are helping tribal communities in the state plan for future water management in the face of drought and climate change impacts, according to the Daily Wildcat. The research includes examining water use over a 50-year period to project when tribes will reach their full water allocation, determining climate change impacts on tribal water resources by comparing water data to various climate change scenarios, and creating a drought monitoring index based on predicted climate changes and the water demand of tribal communities.
