DOI Helps Tribes Prepare for Climate Change

American Indian communities are particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. As part of President Obama’s Climate Action Plan, the Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Indian Affairs has awarded more than $600,000 in grants to 18 tribes and tribal consortiums to help communities better prepare for impacts “through planning projects and by supporting participation in federal initiatives that assess climate change vulnerabilities and develop regional solutions.”
